Flying Doctors Asia (FDA) was set up in 2004 in Singapore. It was established to fill a niche in the growing demand to provide air ambulance and medical evacuation (medevac) services for critically ill patients needing quick and expeditious transfer to medical centres, particularly in Asia.
Starting with just one Lear 35A aircraft, FDA has now completed more than 3,000 successful air evacuation missions. FDA has developed into a recognized market leader, with a reputation for standards of excellence in service, crew performance and trusted reliability.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Prithpal Singh has had an extensive and varied career in the tourism, leisure, travel and aviation industry, holding senior management positions in large private and public listed companies including 18 years with public listed Hotel Properties Ltd as Senior Vice President. He co-founded REGION AIR Singapore’s first privately owned airline, aircraft leasing and charter company. Has held the position of Managing Director of another regional air charter company, Travel Bug Holidays, operating wide body Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Was Chief Operating Officer of Myanmar’s national airline, Myanmar Airways International. He has also over the years provided aviation and hospitality consultancy to governments and private organizations which includes Qantas, Maldives, Leste Timor, a major conglomerate in Indonesia, plus several independently commissioned studies on low cost airlines and all business class airlines.
In 2004, Prithpal founded FLYING DOCTORS ASIA to cater to the growing demand for medical evacuations in the Asia Pacific Area and remains the leading air ambulance and medical evacuation company in Asia today.
He is a Padi certified scuba diver and a pilot with over 30 years of flying experience, and taken part in international air races and co- organized the 1990 Paris to Langkawi air race, the world longest. Also written extensively on aviation, travel and tourism for local and international publications. He has a B.A. in Economics, an MA in Tourism and Hospitality Management and participated in the Cathay Pacific sponsored INSEAD's (France) Executive MBA residential summer business program.
